The University of Connecticut is a public land-grant research university in Storrs, Connecticut. It was founded in 1881 as the Storrs Agricultural School, named after two brothers who donated the land for the school

All students must earn at least 120 credits to graduate from the University of Connecticut. To graduate in eight semesters, students must take an average of 15 credits per semester.

UConn academic calendar fall 2024

Here are important dates, schedules, and deadlines on the UConn academic calendar for fall 2024.

1. UConn move-in day fall 2024 for freshmen students is Friday, August 26, 2024 from 8:00am – 4:00pm.
2. All campus change, transfers, and continuing student move-in day is from Saturday, August 27 to Sunday, August 28, 2024 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. students can only bring one car to campus for move-in! Bring your UConn ID, photo ID, and student ID (PeopleSoft) with you. Residential Life will need this information to distribute keys and other check-in materials.
3. UConn Fall semester classes start on Monday, August 29, 2024. The first day of fall 2024.
4. Labor day holiday is Monday, September 5, 2024. No classes.
5. Tuesday, September 6 2024 is the last day to file petitions for course credit by examination (Undergraduate students only).
6. Courses dropped after Monday, September 12 2024 will have a “W” for withdrawal recorded on the academic record. It is the last day to add or drop courses without additional signatures (see Adding and Dropping Courses).
7. Monday, September 19 2024 is the last day for students to make up Incomplete or Absence grades (Undergraduate students only) according to UConn academic calendar 2024-2025.
8. Tuesday, September 20 – Monday, September 26 2024 is examinations for course credit by examination (Undergraduate students only).
9. Friday, September 23 2024 is the deadline to apply for graduation and submit Final Plan of Study (Undergraduate, Master’s, 6th year, and graduate certificate students only) for conferral of a Fall 2024 degree.
10. Dean’s signature is required to add courses on Tuesday, September 27, 2024 on the UConn academic calendar.
11. Mid-semester progress reports are due to students from faculty on Friday, October 7, 2024.
12. Monday, November 14 2024 is the last day to withdraw from a course.
13. The last day to place courses on or remove from Pass/Fail grading (Undergraduate students only) is Monday, November 14, 2024.
14. UConn Thanksgiving break 2024 is from Sunday, November 20 2024 to Saturday, November 26, 2024.
15. Friday, December 2, 2024 is the last day for Master’s and Doctoral degree candidates to upload their final thesis and dissertation to Submittable and submit related paperwork to Degree Audit ([email protected]) for conferral of a Fall 2024 degree. It is recommended that students defend at least two weeks before this deadline to allow for revisions. Doctoral dissertation defense must be announced two weeks before defending. Plan A master’s students are not required to announce their defense.
16. The last day of fall 2024 semester classes is Friday, December 9, 2024.
17. Reading Days are Saturday, December 10 2024 to Sunday, December 11, 2024.
18. UConn final examinations begin on Monday, December 12, and end on Sunday, December 18, 2024.
19. Thursday, December 15 2024 is Reading Day.
20. Conferral date for Fall 2024 degrees is Sunday, December 18, 2024. Final examinations for Plan B master’s students must be completed by this date according to UConn academic calendar.
21. UConn Fall, 2024 Semester grades are due at 4 pm on Wednesday, December 21 2024.
22. Friday, December 30 2024 is the last day for Degree Audit ([email protected]) to receive the approved Plan B master’s Report on the Final Exam form (Graduate students only).

Here are important dates, schedules, and deadlines on the UConn academic calendar for spring 2025.

1. Registration for the Winter 2025 and Spring 2025 semesters via Student Administration System begins on Monday, October 24, 2024.
2. UConn Spring 2025 semester classes start date is Tuesday, January 17, 2025.
3. Monday, January 23, 2025 is the last day to file petitions for course credit by examination (Undergraduate students only).
4. Courses dropped after Monday, January 30 2025 will have a “W” for withdrawal recorded on the academic record. It is the last day to add or drop courses without additional signatures.
5. Monday, February 6 2025 is the last day for students to make up Incomplete or Absence grades (Undergraduate students only).
6. Tuesday, February 7 – Monday, February 13 2025 is examinations for course credit by examination (Undergraduate students only).
7. Friday, February 10 2025 is the deadline to apply for graduation and to submit Final Plan of Study (Undergraduate, Master’s, 6th year, and graduate certificate students only) for conferral of a Spring 2025 degree.
8. Dean’s signature required to add courses is Tuesday, February 14, 2025 on the UConn academic calendar.
9. Mid-semester progress reports are due students from faculty is Friday, February 24, 2025.
10. Wednesday, March 1 2025 is the deadline to apply for Summer 2025 graduation to be included in the 2025 Commencement Book.
11. UConn Spring break 2025 is from Sunday, March 12 2025 to Saturday, March 18, 2025.
12. Registration for the Fall 2025 semester via Student Administration System begins on Monday, March 20, 2025.
13. Emergency closing class makeup date is Saturday, March 25, 2025 on the UConn academic calendar 2024-2025.
14. The last day to withdraw from a course is Monday, April 10, 2025.
15. Monday, April 10 2025 is the last day to place courses on or remove from Pass/Fail grading (Undergraduate students only).
16.
