URI academic calendar fall 2024

URI fall 2024 semester has 16 weeks of instruction. Here are the important dates and deadlines on the URI academic calendar for fall 2024.

1. URI move-in day fall 2024 begins on Thursday, September 1, 2024 to Sunday, September 4 2024, for freshmen and returning students. Each residence hall will have a designated move-in date, and students will select a move-in time in URI MyHousing to spread congestion.
2. Advising day is September 6 2024.
3. URI Fall classes start on September 7, 2024. Pro-rata billing period for all classes begins.
4. URI e-Campus Open Add Period is September 7, 2024 to September 13, 2024.
5. URI e-Campus Permission Number Late Add Period is September 14, 2024 to September 20, 2024.
6. September 20, 2024 is the last day to add the Pass/Fail Option.
7. Courses dropped on September 29 2024, or after this date will have a “W” for Withdrawal recorded on the academic record (transcript).
8. Columbus Day is October 10, 2024 – Classes do not meet, offices are closed.
9. October 19, 2024 is the last day for students to DROP courses in e-Campus (late drop form required after this date).
10. Mid-semester is October 21 2024 on the URI academic calendar 2024-2025.
11. October 21, 2024 is the last day to CHANGE from Pass/Fail Option.
12. Freshmen Mid Term Grades and Mid Term Surveys are due in e-Campus by 12:00 pm on October 25, 2024.
13. Election Day is November 8, 2024. Classes do not meet, and offices are closed
14. Friday Classes meet (Veterans Day Class makeup) on November 9, 2024.
15. Veteran’s Day is November 11, 2024. Classes do not meet, and offices are closed
16. Thanksgiving break 2024 is from November 24, 2024 to November 27, 2024.
17. The last day of Classes for fall 2024 is December 13, 2024.
18. Reading day is December 14, 2024.
19. Final Examination is from December 15, 2024 to December 16, 2024 and from December 19, to December 21 2024.
20. December 22 2024 is Final Exams Make-up Day. It is used only in the event of Official Snow Delay or Cancellation.
21. Final grades are due in e-Campus by 12:00 pm on December 28, 2024.
22. The official date for December graduation is December 31, 2024.
23. Commencement Ceremonies is from May 20, 2025 to May 22, 2025.

Here are the important dates and deadlines on the URI academic calendar for Winter J term 2025.

1. Winter J-Term Pre-registration begins on Monday, October 31, 2024.
2. Monday, January 2 2025 is New Year’s Day Observance (classes meet, offices are closed).
3. Winter J Term 2025 classes start on Monday, January 2, 2025.
4. Monday, January 2 2025 is the last day to Add a class or Drop with a 100% refund.
5. The last day to Drop a class (50% refund) is Tuesday, January 3, 2025.
6. Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday is Monday, January 16, 2025. Classes do not meet, and offices are closed.
7. The Last Day of Classes for Winter J Term 2025 is Friday, January 20, 2025.
8. Winter J Term 2025 final grades are due in e-Campus on Saturday, January 21, 2025 before the 1st day of Spring 2025 classes.

URI Spring 2025 semester has 15 weeks of instruction. Here are the important dates and deadlines on the URI academic calendar for Spring 2025.

1. Advising Day is January 20, 2025.
2. Spring 2025 classes start on January 23, 2025.
3. e-Campus Open Add Period is January 23 – January 29, 2025.
4. e-Campus Permission Number Late Add Period is January 30 – February 5, 2025.
5. February 5 2025, is the last day to add Pass/Fail Option.
6. Courses dropped on February 14 2025 or after this date will have a “W” for Withdrawal recorded on the academic record (transcript).
7. Presidents Day holiday is February 20 2025. Classes do not meet, and offices are open (Snow emergency makeup day if needed).
8. March 6 2025 is the last day for students to DROP courses in e-Campus (late drop form required after this date).

10. URI Spring Break 2025 is from March 13 2025 to March 19, 2025. Classes do not meet, offices are open.

12. March 24 2025 is the last day to CHANGE from Pass/Fail Option.
13. The last day of classes for Spring 2025 is May 1, 2025.

15. URI Spring 2025 final examination is on May 4 – May 5, 2025 & May 8 – May 10, 2025.
16. Spring 2025 final grades are due in e-Campus by 12:00 pm on May 16, 2025.
17. Graduate Commencement Ceremony is on May 20, 2025.
18. Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony is on May 21, 2025.

Here are the important dates and deadlines on the URI academic calendar for summer 2025.

1. Online Registration for Summer 2025 opens on February 6 2025.
2. Under-enrolled Courses are Cancelled for Summer Session 1 on May 18 2025, Summer Session 2 on June 22 2025 and Summer Session 3 on May 19 2025.
3. URI Summer 2025 classes start for Summer Session 1 and Summer Session 3 on May 22 2025 and begin for Summer Session 2 on June 26 2025.
4. May 26 is the Last day to ADD for Summer Session 1 and Summer Session 3. The last day to ADD for Summer Session 2 is June 30, 2025.
5. The last day to drop with 100% Adjustment of Fees is May 23 2025 for Summer Session 1, June 27 2025 for Summer Session 2, and May 26 2025 for Summer Session 3.
6. DROP Period with 70% Adjustment of Fees is May 24 – May 28 2025 for Summer Session 1, June 28 – July 2 2025 for Summer Session 2, and May 26 – May 29 2025 for Summer Session 3.
7. DROP Period with 50% Adjustment of Fees is May 29 – May 30, 2025 for Summer Session 1, July 3 – July 4, 2025 for Summer Session 2, and May 30 – June 2, 2025 for Summer Session 3.
