CSULB Academic Calendar and Important Dates 2024-2025. The CSULB academic calendar 2024-2025 has the latest term deadlines for Admissions, exams, add/drop, Registration, Financial Aid, Scholarships, Fee Payments, and Graduation. California State University, Long Beach operates on a semester system. A semester at CSULB is 15 weeks long. Each semester is supplemented by a fee-supported summer term and a fee-supported winter session.

Normally, fall semester classes begin in late August or early September. The last day of instruction usually comes midway in December. This allows for a week of final examinations before the winter recess, which begins in mid-December.

5. CSULB fall 2024 classes start on August 22, 2024. It is the first day of classes. A $25 late registration fee will apply for initial registration starting this date or later.
6. Open University Enrollment is from August 22, 2024 to September 19, 2024.
7. Labor Day (campus closed) holiday is September 5, 2024, according to the CSULB holiday schedule 2024.
8. September 5, 2024 is the last day to add or drop classes without approval.
9. The deadline to add or swap a class without approval is September 5, 2024.
10. September 5, 2024 is the deadline to drop a class without receiving a W.
11. The deadline to drop and receive a refund for a reduction in calculated charges is September 5, 2024. All changes must be completed in MyCSULB Student Center by 10 p.m.
12. Withdraw (with approval only) period is from September 6, 2024 to November 18, 2024. Starting the third week of classes, you’ll need to submit a request to withdraw via MyCSULB Student Center. If approved, you’ll receive a W on your transcript for the class.
13. Permission to Add (with approval only) is on September 6, 2024. During the third week of classes, the approval of the class instructor and the department is required to add a class.
14. The Late Add (by exception only) period is from September 13, 2024 to September 19, 2024. During the fourth week of classes, you may only add a class if extenuating circumstances prevented you from enrolling before the deadline.
15. Grade Option Change Request Deadline is September 12, 2024. It is the deadline to change the grading option for a class to Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) or Audit (AU).
16. September 12, 2024 is the deadline to file credit by examination.
17. University Census is on September 19, 2024. Finalize your enrollment by this day. Enrollment as of this day is considered the official enrollment and is used for state reporting and select financial aid programs.
18. The deadline to withdraw from all classes for prorated refund is October 26, 2024.
19. Mid-Term Progress Reports are in Mid-October 2024. Instructors may provide mid-term progress reports, which are posted in MyCSULB Student Center.
20. Veterans Day (campus closed) is Friday, November 11, 2024, according to the CSULB holiday schedule 2024.
21. Catastrophic Withdrawals are from November 19, 2024 to December 9, 2024. Withdrawal during the final three weeks of instruction is not permitted unless there are serious and extenuating circumstances beyond your control that prevent you from continuing in your classes and incompletes are not possible.
22. CSULB Fall Break 2024 (no classes, campus open) is from Monday, November 21 to Wednesday, November 23, 2024.
23. Thanksgiving break (campus closed) is from Thursday, November 24 to Friday, November 25, 2024. The California State University, Long Beach’s Thanksgiving holiday immediately follow the fall break period.
24. Classes resume on Monday, November 28, 2024. Residential Halls Reopen/Meals Resume.
25. The last day of classes for fall 2024 is December 9, 2024.
26. Final Exams are from December 12, 2024 to December 17, 2024.

CSULB academic calendar spring 2025

Check out the important dates and deadlines on the CSULB academic calendar for spring 2025.

1. The application window or deadline for students graduating in Spring 2025 is from March 2, 2024 to October 15, 2024. The deadline to apply to graduate depends on the term you plan to graduate. Applications begin the year before your expected graduation term and end during the fall or spring term preceding your graduation date.
2. The California State University, Long Beach Spring 2025 Admission Applications open on August 1, 2024. It is the first day that applications are accepted.
3. August 31, 2024 is the Priority Application Deadline (New Students for Spring Only). Applications must be submitted by 10 p.m. If you submit your application after this day, you will not be eligible for CSULB or California state financial aid, but you may still be eligible for federal grants, loans, or other scholarships.
4. Lower-division transfer application deadline is August 31, 2024. It is open only for highly qualified applicants to Nursing by referral of the department.
5. Upper-division transfer application deadline is August 31, 2024, according to the CSULB academic calendar 2024-2025.
6. August 31, 2024 is the Second bachelor’s application deadline. It is open only for highly qualified applications to the following majors: Foreign languages, Nursing, Engineering, Natural Sciences (except Biological Sciences), and Math.
7. Returning CSULB students’ date is August 31, 2024. Students who have not attended another college or university since leaving CSULB.
8. Reinstatement (disqualified) CSULB students’ date is August 31, 2024. Students who are disqualified may return if they are approved for reinstatement.
9. Financial Aid Applications Open on October 1, 2024. It is the first day to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application for financial aid for the following academic year.
10. Award notifications are sent to new students at the beginning of October 2024.
11. The spring 2025 Schedule of Classes is available on October 3, 2024.
12. The undergraduate Admission Decisions period is Mid-October to November 2024. When an admission decision has been made, you will be notified by e-mail.
13. Continuing student registration begins on October 31, 2024. Registration appointment times are based on graduation status, class level, and units earned.
14. November 1, 2024 is the Residency Reclassification Deadline. It is the last day to submit the CSU Residence Questionnaire to be reclassified as a California resident for tuition purposes.
15. The teaching credential program’s application deadline is November 1, 2024.

17. November 15, 2024 is the deadline to submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit.

20. Educational Leave Deadline is December 23, 2024. It is the last day to file an Application for Educational Leave for the semester.
21. December 31, 2024 is the deadline to submit the requested documents (New Students for Spring Only).
22. CSU Visitor/Concurrent Enrollment Deadline is January 1, 2025.
23. Petition for Exception to Maximum Unit Load is on January 2, 2025. On the first day, you can register for more than 18 units. An approved petition is required.
24. The waitlist Deadline is January 2, 2025. It is the last day of the waitlist auto-enrollment. After this date, waitlists are no longer used.
25. Winter Session 2025 is from Tuesday, January 3, 2025 to Wednesday, January 18, 2025.
26. The Spring 2025 Fee Payment Deadline is January 4, 2025. Fees are due 30 days after registration or by this deadline, whichever occurs first. Your payment due date is available on MyCSULB Student Center. If you register after this day, your fees will be due the next day. A $10 late payment fee will be assessed on balances past due after this day.
27. Disbursement begins on January 9, 2025. Most financial aid funds are applied toward any outstanding charges, including any instalment plans. The first possible date funds can be released is 10 days before the first day of classes each semester.
28. Martin Luther King, Jr’s Birthday observed (campus closed) is Monday, January 16, 2025, according to the CSULB holiday schedule 2025.
29. January 18, 2025 is the deadline to drop and receive a full refund. Drop all classes by this day to receive a full refund. Starting the first day of classes, students who drop all their classes will owe prorated fees based on the date of withdrawal.
30. Residence Halls Reopen on January 18, 2025.
31. CSULB New Spring Residents’ Move-In Day is January 18, 2025.
32. CSULB spring 2025 classes start on January 19, 2025. It is the first day of classes for the Spring Semester of 2025.
33. Open University Enrollment is on January 19, 2025, according to the CSULB academic calendar 2024-2025.

35. BeachScholarships Application Period is from January 19, 2025 to March 13, 2025. All new and continuing students may apply. Application periods are for scholarships to be provided during the indicated semester.

46. CSULB Spring Break 2025 is from Monday, March 27, 2025 to Friday, March 31, 2025. Cesar Chavez Day (campus closed) is Friday, March 31, 2025, according to the CSULB holiday schedule 2025.
47. Classes resume on April 2, 2025 after spring break. Residence Halls Reopen at 10 am.
48. The 2025-2024 Academic Year Housing application opens at 10 am on April 5, 2025, according to the CSULB academic calendar 2025-2024.
49. The catastrophic Withdrawal period is from April 15 to May 5, 2025. Withdrawal during the final three weeks of instruction is not permitted unless there are serious and extenuating circumstances beyond your control that prevent you from continuing in your classes and incompletes are not possible.
