Spring 2023 is a Regular 15-week session. These are the important dates and deadlines in the UW Madison Academic Calendar for spring 2023.

1. Spring 2023 Move-In days are January 21, 2023 & January 22, 2023.
2. Monday, January 23, 2023, is the deadline for students to cancel spring 2023 enrollment and have no spring term record on the transcript (after students will be required to withdraw, the transcript will show term information and withdrawal date).
3. UW Madison Spring semester classes begin on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
4. January 27 2023 is the deadline for students (except Special and Guest) to begin initial Spring term enrollment without a $50 late fee.
5. February 1 2023 is the deadline for students to drop a course or withdraw from the university without having the course(s) appear on the transcript (after will show as a DR grade for individual courses) on the UW Madison academic calendar.
6. February 3 2023 is the deadline for students to drop a Spring term course and receive a 100% tuition adjustment. February 3 2023 is also the Deadline for students to add, swap, or change sections in a Spring term course (after needing department permission), and the Deadline for UW Madison students to begin initial Spring 2023 enrollment (after a $50 late fee, need dept. & academic dean permission).
7. The deadline for students to drop a Spring term course and receive a 50% tuition adjustment is February 17, 2023. It is also the Deadline for students (except graduates) to request pass/fail or credit/audit options for a Spring term course…and the Deadline for students (except graduates) to change variable credits (after needing instructor permission & dean approval).
8. UW Madison Spring break 2023 is from March 11 2023 to March 19, 2023.
9. Classes resume on Monday, March 20, 2023.
10. The deadline for Graduate students to request pass/fail or credit/audit options for a Spring term course is April 20, 2023. It is also the Deadline for Graduate students to change variable credits (after needing instructor permission & dean approval).
11. On the UW Madison academic calendar, April 21, 2023, is the;
    • Deadline for students to drop a Spring term course (after: need academic dean approval).
    • Deadline for students to add a Spring term course with department permission (after: need academic dean approval).

15. Exams begin on Sunday, May 7, 2023 to Friday, May 12, 2023.
16. Commencement for Doctoral & Medical Professionals is on Friday, May 12, 2023.

UW Madison spring break 2023

UW Madison Spring break 2023 is from Saturday, March 11, 2023, to Sunday, March 19, 2023. Classes resume after the spring recess on Monday, March 20, 2023.

All University Residence Halls will remain open through UW Madison spring break 2023 without charge for residents who choose to remain on campus. Additional information about spring break will be available in February 2023.
