A full-time undergraduate student at Texas Tech is a student that is enrolled in courses totalling 12 or more credit hours per semester. A full-time graduate student is enrolled in nine or more credit hours per semester.

Below are important dates and deadlines on the TTU academic calendar for Fall, Spring and Summer.

TTU academic calendar fall 2024

1. TTU Fall move in day 2024 is on Sunday, August 14 2024 from 10:00 a.m. Residence halls are open for occupancy (Fall Move In). Select Hospitality Services dining locations open for service (Hospitality).
2. 95% payment of mandatory tuition and fees or enrollment in a payment plan due for fall on Monday, August 22 2024. Registrations after this date require immediate payment or enrollment in a payment plan.
3. TTU Fall 2024 classes start on Thursday, August 25 2024 (Texas Tech fall 2024 start date). TTU first day of classes for fall 2024. All Hospitality Services dining locations open for service (Hospitality).
4. Tuesday, August 30 2024 is the last day for student-initiated addition of a course on MyTech. Courses may be added through September 12 with advisor and instructor permission.
5. Labor Day holiday is Monday, September 5 2024. Limited dining locations available (Hospitality).
6. Friday, September 9 2024 is the last day for graduate degree candidates to file with the Graduate School an application to graduate.
7. On the TTU academic calendar, Monday, September 12 2024 is the;
   • Last day for student-initiated drop on MyTech without academic penalty (drop does not count against drop limit). All drops are the responsibility of the student.
   • Last day to drop a course and have course charges removed. Students who wish to drop to 0 hours must submit a withdrawal request online at (Withdrawal Information). Financial penalties apply for withdrawals after September 12.
   • Last day to withdraw from the university without financial penalty.
   • Last day to change a major and/or transfer between colleges for current term.
8. Student-initiated drop is made on Tuesday, September 13 2024 or after this date counts against drop limit. All drops are the responsibility of the student.
9. Thursday, September 22 2024 is the last day to withdraw from the university and receive partial financial credit.
10. The last day to withdraw from the university and receive pro-rated Housing and Dining Plan refund is Thursday, September 22 2024.
11. Thursday, September 22 2024 is the last day to change on-campus Dining Plan level for the fall semester (Hospitality).
12. Wednesday, September 28 2024 is the last day for doctoral and master’s thesis students to submit the Thesis-Dissertation Defense Notification form.
13. Midterm grading opens on Thursday, October 13 2024 according to the TTU academic calendar 2024-2025.
14. Wednesday, October 26 2024 is the last day for degree candidates and faculty to order invitations and academic regalia at the bookstore.
15. Midterm grades are due via TTU Raiderlink on Thursday October 27 2024 by 5:00 p.m.
16. Friday, October 28 2024 is the last day for graduate degree candidates to defend theses/dissertations.
17. The last day for master’s non-thesis degree candidates to complete the comprehensive evaluation is Friday, October 28 2024.
18. Friday, November 4 2024 is last day for graduate degree candidates to submit to the ETD website the final PDF of thesis/dissertation.
19. The last day for graduate degree candidates to submit the Oral Defense and Thesis-Dissertation Approval Form is Friday, November 4 2024.
20. Friday, November 4 2024 is the last day for M.M. and D.M.A. candidates to post the PDFs of recital programs to the ETD website and submit recordings of recitals to the Graduate School according to the TTU academic calendar 2024-2025.
21. Monday, November 14 2024 is the last day to remove grades of I, PR, or CR in the Graduate School. This does not apply to the PR/CR received on a previous thesis or dissertation enrollment.
22. Official reports are due to Graduate School on Interdisciplinary Portfolio for the master’s degree (non-thesis students) is Monday, November 14 2024 according to the TTU academic calendar.
23. Official reports are due to Graduate School on results of final comprehensive evaluations Monday, November 14 2024.
24. Monday, November 14 2024 is the last day for graduate degree candidates to pay thesis-dissertation fee posted to Banner account.
25. Monday, November 21 2024 is the last day for student-initiated drop on MyTech with academic penalty (counts against drop limit). All drops are the responsibility of the student according to the TTU academic calendar.
26. Monday, November 21 2024 is the last day to withdraw from the university. Although withdrawal can be processed until this date, all tuition and fees related to the registration are due in full and no refunds will be issued.
27. The last day to declare pass/fail intentions is Monday, November 21 2024.
28. TTU Thanksgiving break is Wednesday, November 23 – Sunday, November 27 2024. No meals available at any Hospitality Services location Thursday, November 24 – Sunday, November 27 2024 (Hospitality).
29. Classes resume on Monday, November 28 2024.
30. Wednesday, November 30 – Wednesday, December 7 2024 is the period of no examinations except for makeup exams or scheduled lab exams according to the TTU academic calendar 2024-2025.
31. Carol of Lights is on Friday, December 2 2024.
32. Raiderlink is available for grading on Monday, December 5 2024. Degree candidate grades are due at noon December 14).
33. The last day of classes for Fall 2024 semester is Tuesday, December 6 2024.
34. Individual study day is Wednesday, December 7 2024. Late night pancakes available for residents living on campus (Hospitality).
35. Friday, December 9 2024 is the last day for undergraduate degree candidates to remove grades of I and PR.
36. TTU Fall 2024 Final examination dates are Thursday, December 8 2024 to Tuesday, December 13 2024. There are no exams on Sunday, December 11.
37. Fall semester ends on Tuesday, December 13 2024.
38. Fall 2024 Move Out date is Wednesday, December 14 2024.
39. Wednesday, December 14 2024 is the last day for most dining locations (Hospitality).
40. Noon, grades are due on Wednesday, December 14 2024 for graduating students via Raiderlink.
41. Residence halls close on Wednesday, December 14 2024 at 10:00 a.m according to the TTU academic calendar. Degree candidates may occupy residence hall rooms until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17 2024 (Winter Break Housing).

4. Winter Intersession is from December 14 – December 23 2024, and from January 3 – January 7 2025.
