What is an IslandID?

An IslandID and password are necessary to sign in to most University resources. These credentials are issued to students upon acceptance to the University. Emails explaining the account claim process are sent out 24-48 hours after acceptance.

As soon as you have claimed your IslandID, verify you can log into your University Email. The Islander email is the primary avenue of communication for University business, including correspondence from the Business Office, Financial Aid, Housing, and Orientation.

As students of the University, access to your IslandID account, email, and Office 365 is retained for one year (365 days) after your date of last attendance. Any data stored in Office 365 needs to be retrieved before the end of this period.

After claiming your IslandID, you will be required to answer security questions for account recovery. Additionally, once your password is set, you have the option of providing an alternate email address and phone number as recovery methods. If you have issues recovering your account, don’t hesitate to contact the I.T. Service Desk for assistance.

How to set your initial password

A new student will receive an email (to an alternate email address) with a username and security code (Contact the I.T. Service Desk at 361-825-2692 if you did not receive a security code).

  1. On My IslandID select New User?.
  2. Enter your security code and date of birth and select Submit.
  3. Read the Acceptable Use Policy and select Accept.
  4. Your IslandID will be presented. Select Next.
  5. Answer security questions presented or use the pencil icon to choose different questions.
  6. Once all questions are answered, select Submit.
  7. Create and confirm your new password, then select Reset Password.

About your Student ID

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi assigns all incoming Islanders a unique, 9-character identification number to protect students’ privacy. Known as your Student ID, this number will serve as your universal I.D. during your attendance and will be used to verify your identity in place of a Social Security Number.

Your A-Number is another form of identification issued through the Registrar’s office and used for different resources. Retrieve your Student ID by visiting MyIslandID.tamucc.edu and selecting “Forgot Student ID (A#)?”.

Once you have obtained your Student ID, you may choose to establish your University computer accounts, such as your Islander Student Email and TAMUCC SAIL.

Enter your Social Security Number (with no dashes) and your P.I.N. to obtain your Student ID. As a new student, your P.I.N. is auto-set to your date of birth in the format of M.M.D.D.Y.Y.
