NBAA Online Library

NBAA Online Library. In fulfilling one of its obligations of promoting and providing opportunities and facilities for the study of and training in accountancy, auditing and allied subjects, in 1975, the Board established the library aimed at providing learning materials in accounting, auditing and allied subjects to candidates preparing for the Boards examinations, trainers, researchers and other stakeholders.

Library vision and mission

The library vision is to become the leading accounting and auditing learning and teaching resource service provider in the country.

The library mission is to provide quality services that satisfy information needs for learning, teaching, research; training and consultancy work on accounting, auditing and allied subjects in Tanzania.

Library objectives

The library objectives are to:

Build a specialized collection to cater for the information needs of students, teachers and researchers and to provide up-to-date information and quick service to the users.

Supply services and expertise designed actively to promote effective exploitation of library and information resources including the teaching of transferable information handling skills.

Be at the cutting edge of modern information technologies and through such technology not only to effectively provide up-to-date information to its clientele but also to collaborate and cooperate with other libraries and link to external databases to enhance its services.

Library Collection

NBAA collection comprises of about 10,000 publications that includes books, journals, government publications, workshop papers, seminar papers and other NBAA publications.

Library Services

Currently the library is offering the following services

Reference services for library users – assisting users to get available materials on accounting, auditing and allied subjects (not for loan).

Awareness services – the library updates users on recent acquired materials periodically. The materials accessioned are obtained through purchase, gift and exchange.

Membership

Library members are:

  • Students registered for Board’s examinations
  • CPA(T) members
  • Students from higher learning institutions
  • ACCA registered students and
  • CIMA students.

Fees

Students registered for the Board’s examinations are not paying upon using the library.

The general public, students from higher leaning institutions and foreign professional candidates are paying Tshs. 3,000/= per day during working hours. Extra fee of 2000/= are charged after working hours.

Library Rules and Regulations

In maintaining discipline and order, the NBAA library has come up with rules and regulations in which all users are required to observe. These rules and regulations are meant to provide peaceful learning environment for all kinds of users. These are as follows:

  • Silence must be observed in the library to allow readers to concentrate in learning. In maintaining this quiet atmosphere, users are requested to switch off their mobile phones to silent mode when they are in the library area
  • Readers are requested not to reshelf books taken from the shelves as this is part of the duties of the library staff.
  • Smoking, eating or drinking is not permitted in the library.
  • The use of matches or open light in any part of the library is prohibited.
  • No dispatch case/wallet of over 8″ x 5″ in size or attached cases be brought into the library. The overcoats should not be brought in the library
  • Readers must dress and behave in manner that will not cause either offence or damage. Thus, for example, the removal of shirts, the placing of feet on furniture, and the wearing of high-heeled shoes are forbidden.
  • Loose sheets of paper for purpose of taking notes may be taken into the library. Files folders, papers and other books should not be taken into the library.
  • The assistant at the control counter in the entrance lobby will insist that a reader show all his/her books on leaving the library as a precaution against the illegal removal of books. Borrowers are asked to give the assistant their full cooperation in this matter.
  • No foodstuff may be brought into the Library including any type of drinks and fruits as they attract insects easily.
  • Stealing and/or mutilation of library property is not allowed A person found guilty of steeling and/ or mutilating library property, will be liable for disciplinary action including reporting the matter to the police.
  • The library computers are to be used for information searches, with priority for studies and research
  • Readers/users must behave in such a way as not to disturb or hinder the operation of the library.
  • Any reader/user who does not comply with these regulations may have right of admission suspended and may be denied entry to the library.
  • Library users are obliged to follow library rules. The library has the right to suspend anyone who does not follow library rules and/or has an outstanding debt to the library.
  • Readers or borrowers will be held responsible for any damage/loss on library property while in their possession. The readers shall be required to pay the full value of a damage/loss of library property.

In determining the value of damaged property the following will apply:

(i) The current cost of the book and processing costs

(ii) A penalty of US$ 15.00 (the equivalent in Tanzania Shillings)

Opening Hours

The NBAA Library normally is opened depending on the clientele needs. During off peak periods, the library operates in the following manner:
