Entry Requirements

(a) ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN

(i) Accounting Technician Level (ATEC) I Examinations:

A prospective candidate seeking to register for the Accounting Technician Level I examinations must show evidence of being a holder of any of the following qualifications:

    1. Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least three credit passes and a pass grade in Mathematics and English Language OR
    2. National Business Examinations (NABE) Stage II with at least four passes plus a Certificate of Secondary Education OR
    3. Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least one principal pass and a subsidiary in relevant subjects but must have at least a pass in English and Mathematics at O-level secondary education OR
    4. A one year certificate from recognized Institution with a pass grade in English and Mathematics at “O” level prior to obtaining such a certificate.
    5. Such other certificates as may be recognized by the Board from time to time

(ii) Accounting Technician Level (ATEC) II Examinations:

A prospective candidate seeking to register for the Accounting Technician Level II examinations must show evidence of being a holder of any one of the following qualifications:

    1. Accounting Technical Level I Statement of Success Letter
    2. Advanced Level Secondary School Certificate for students who had pursues commercial biased combination. But must have two principal passes.
    3. Certificate in Accounting – (NTA Level 4)
    4. A two-year diploma not majoring in accounting – (NTA Level 6).
    5. Advanced Level Secondary Education Certificate Holders who had pursued commercial subjects and scored pass grade in (Bookkeeping and Commerce).

(b) PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATIONS

A prospective candidate seeking to register for the Professional Examinations must show evidence of being a holder of any of the following qualifications.

(i) Foundation Level – Knowledge and Skills Level

    1. NBAA Accounting Technician Certificate (ATEC ).
    2. A two-year Diploma in Accounting or Accounting and Finance – (NTA level 6).
    3. A degree from a recognized University or Institution of higher learning (Non-Accounting)

Exemption shall be considered on subject to subject basis depending on candidate’s specialty.

(ii) Intermediate Level – Skills and Analysis

    1. Holder of NBAA Foundation Level Statement of Success Letter
    2. A degree majoring in Accounting or Accounting and Finance from a recognized University or Institution of higher learning.

(iii) Final Level – Analysis, Application and Evaluation

    1. Holder of NBAA Intermediate Level Statement of Success letter.

  3. Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (ADA); Bachelor of Accounting (BAC) –Institute of Finance Management
  4. Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (ADA); Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA-Accounting)- St. Augustine University of Tanzania.
  5. Advanced Diploma in Cooperative Accounting (ADCA); Bachelor of Arts, Accounting & Finance (BA-AF); Bachelor of Arts, Cooperative Management & Accounting (BA-CMA) – Moshi Cooperative University.
  6. Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (ADA) and Bachelor in Accounting (BA)-Institute of Accountancy Arusha.
  7. Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (ADA); Advanced Diploma in Government Accounting (ADGA); Bachelor Degree in Accounting (BAC) and Bachelor in Public Sector Accounting (BPSA) –Tanzania Institute of Accountancy.
  8. Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (ADA) and Bachelor in Accountancy (BACC)- College of Business Education.
  9. Advanced Diploma in Financial Administration (ADFA) – Zanzibar Institute of Finance Administration.
  10. Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) – Open University of Tanzania.
  11. Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) – Zanzibar University.
  12. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA Accounting) – Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College.
  13. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA Accounting); Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance (BSc.-AF)- Tumaini University Iringa College.
  14. Advanced Diploma in Accountancy (ADA) and Bachelor of Accountancy (BACC) – Stephano Moshi Memorial University College.
  15. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA Accounting) – University of Arusha.
  16. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA Accounting) – Mount Meru University.
  17. Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF) or Bachelor of Business Administration – St. Johns University of Tanzania.
  18. Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) – University of Dodoma
